Nothing is impossible

Divinity is all possibility. Nothing is impossible. But life, teachers, and environments have taught us just the opposite. We are bombarded by people saying, “It’s impossible. You can’t do it.” We have become stupefied little shells who no longer believe in our Divinity. The victory of Satan is that he made man totally materialistic, and man does not believe in himself any more. We are going to reverse ourselves and say that man is essentially divine.

Try to be righteous

In your individual life, you must try to be righteous. For example, if someone hurts you your balance shifts toward your self-interest and ego, and you begin to use unrighteous language toward him and possibly take unrighteous action against him. If you were righteous or if you had equilibrium, you would first examine yourself very closely and see yourself as you are, then consider the person without a prejudice. It is more probable that you would use harsher language toward yourself than the person who supposedly intended to hurt you.

Balance in rest and labor

We must have balance in our rest and labor. Some people have no rest at all. They work all day. They come home and read the paper, listen to the news, fight or play with their partners, and go to bed with worries, anxieties, problems, and various urges and drives. Sleep is not necessarily a state of rest for such people but a time of bad dreams and bad memories, a time in which their conscience bothers them. They fall asleep, but they cannot draw substantial benefit out of it.

Dark forces make you earthbound

Dark forces make you earthbound. They try to make you earthbound by attaching you to possessions and material values — lending and borrowing, cars, money, sex, houses, land, investments, insurances — until you are caught. Once you are stuck to material values, higher values will never dawn in you because you are spiritually dead. You can have the best car, lots of houses, and expensive jewelry, but do not be attached to them. Be ready to renounce them at any moment, if necessary.

Identification with your properties is one of the worst forms of being earthbound. Can you be like Leo Tolstoy, who, as a rich nobleman, left all his properties to others and lived the last years of his life in seclusion as a very simple man? We can be wealthy, but everything we have must be used for the perfection of life.

Joy energy brings victory for both sides

Our diplomats, politicians, and military people try to use anything they can to secure victory over other nations, but they never thought to try the energy of joy in their plans and purposes.

But there is a very important difference between the energy of joy and other methods that the government uses. The difference is that joy energy brings victory for both sides. It illuminates and uplifts both sides and brings understanding and right human relationships between nations.

Joy energy does not allow manipulation, exploitation, and slavery, but causes diplomats, politicians, and the military to work not only for their own victory but also for the victory, happiness, success, and prosperity of others.

With joy energy, if scientifically studied and engineeringly applied to solve problems and bring in understanding, the life of the planet will free itself from the scourge of greed, animosity, revenge, and destruction and a new age of joy will emerge on earth.

Joy and labor

During manual labor in many countries, people sing joyful songs as they work. These people feel that in labor they are refreshed and are being supplied with continuous energy when they sing in joy. This is not a superstition but the result of age long experiences. The fact is that joy amplified by sound acts as a catalyst, releases certain energies from the etheric centers, and changes them into kinetic energy, nourishing the muscles and nerves of the physical body.

Having joy, labor is done without irritation and resistance, and after the labor the muscles need only a short time to recharge themselves.

It is know that students learn quicker and better if they are in an atmosphere of joy because joy energy makes them assimilate knowledge and ideas. We will see tremendous changes in our schools if the atmosphere of the schools are charged with joy.

The Teaching advises us to face our departure from the world with real joy

The Teaching advises us to face our departure from the world with real joy, because it is joy that kindles the higher centers in the higher bodies and lights the way toward the Higher Worlds.

This is why the Teaching advises us not to have fear and anxiety during our departure, and not to let people mourn and lament around us.

In various nations, not only do people cry and lament around the departed one, but they also hire women who are professional criers. I was present at one of these situations. The crying ladies were reciting many formulas and words, praising the departed one and emphasizing how “dark the day will be without him or her,” then making the family members and friends cry and cry with louder and louder voices. I could not image a worse hell than this lamentation for the departed one. Some of these people even pull their hair, tear their clothing, scratch their faces as a sign of mourning. The Teaching speaks against such actions and suggests solemnity, peace, gratitude, music, flowers, and joy around the departed one.

Enveloped in fear, the departed one appears like a dark cloud in the Subtle World. He attracts low level entities around him, who in turn increase more fear in him and the departed one feels he has already fallen into hell. It is such souls who haunt people in their dreams, and inject heavy fears in the hearts of their family members or friends.

Children in the world must be taught how to live a joyful life and, during the time of departure, expect to pass to the Other Worlds with intense joy. They must be taught to see the world and the existence with new eyes and new consciousness, free from physical limitations.

See yourself

I once told my Teacher I had read so many books on discipleship and heard so many things and asked him to tell me something that I will never forget. He said, “Come here. See that mirror. Look at yourself. That is discipleship.” Find a way really to see yourself, and if you cannot find a way to see yourself you are blind. See yourself and what you are, really see physically, emotionally, mentally. When you really see yourself it is a very psychological process. When you start seeing yourself, you start destroying the masks in which you are hidden.

Rest by working

Once my Father said, “We are going to the mountains for total rest.” My Father, my mother, and all four of us children worked very hard cooking and preparing all that we needed to take with us. We actually worked overtime to be ready to go for a rest.

After driving two hundred miles, we arrived in the mountains and worked very hard setting up our tents and putting everything in its right place. We hiked, swam, cooked, and collected wood every day for two weeks.

Upon our return, we unpacked the whole load. My Father said, “Let us sit down and list the hours that we were active during our vacation.” The results were astonishing. Mother had worked or had been active fourteen hours a day. We, the children, had been active an average of sixteen hours a day. The result was that we rested by working hundreds of hours of overtime.

“But you are happy, aren’t you?” my Father asked. We all agreed that we were. “That is the idea of rest – to work harder in order to be happy,” he concluded.

Balance between spiritual and material life

What will happen if your right hand grows another five feet, or if one of your eyes becomes twice as big as the other? You will look so ugly and out of balance. This is what is happening subjectively. Twenty-four hours daily you are thinking and worrying about your food, sex, dress, home, taxes, and problems; and you are only giving two or three minutes to your spiritual side, muttering a prayer, visiting a church, or thinking about the future and trying to bribe the spiritual forces to give you health, happiness, and success. This is how you create imbalance in your system. Because of such an imbalance, you are not healthy, sane, happy, or content.
