The importance of the balance of heart and mind

"When the mind thinks, plans, or creates, the heart asks, 'Is it good for everyone's survival?'

"The mind says, 'Who cares about everyone else? The important thing is me, my interests.'

"The heart says, 'If something is not good for everyone, it is not good for you.'

"The mind answers, 'Who cares about everyone else? Let me accumulate things and enjoy life.'

"The heart says, 'One cannot enjoy life unless he shares the things he has. Only in sharing can one enjoy life.'

"Thus, the heart balances the mind." .

"When the mind makes new discoveries, the heart asks, 'Is this invention going to hinder or help the future progress and well-being of humanity and the planet?'

"And the mind answers 'Who cares about the future? Let us enjoy the present moment. Let us eat, drink, and have a good time and not worry about the future.'

"The heart then says, 'If you do not care about the future, you do not have a future. Not to have a future means to die or to prepare a life of suffering and pain." .

"The mind without the heart is separative, selfish, and earthbound, but the heart is inclusive, selfless , and space-bound."
