In our soul and spirit we are free, but this freedom is only available to us to the degree that we strengthen our links with heaven. Our freedom lies in submitting to God's plans, in not rebelling against difficulties and suffering or trying to avoid them, but in reflecting on them and understanding why they exist. Heaven may not change any of the events we must live through, but inwardly it will give us the chance to deal with them better, and we will therefore experience them less painfully.
The freedom we must seek is not on the material plane but on the plane of consciousness. If we accept what God, master of all destinies, sends us, and if we wish to work for him, he will allow us to go through our trials as sources of spiritual enrichment, and in this way we will truly begin the apprenticeship of our freedom."
